The upcoming V24.30 patch of Fortnite Battle Royale and Zero Build modes will introduce Fortnite Ranked Play, which will bring about an intricate and diverse competition amongst players across the globe. The Fortnite Team recently confirmed in a blog post that Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Champion, and Unreal ranks will be up for grabs, with Bronze through Diamond having three ranks each, while Elite, Champion, and Unreal will only have one. The first season of Fortnite Ranked will be called Ranked Season Zero and will continue until the end of Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 3.
When the season begins, players will be ranked based on their previous match performance and their first Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build match performance. Players will be able to view their current rank on the left of the screen, and a progress bar will indicate how close they are to advancing or losing a rank. The progress bar will increase or decrease depending on match placement and the amount of eliminations. Late eliminations will hold greater value than those earned earlier, and the ranks of eliminated players will also be factored in.
In team play, progress gain, and loss will depend on team eliminations and placement. The team’s rank will also be based on the player with the highest rank at the beginning of the match. Players who attain the Unreal rank will keep it for the season, regardless of their future gameplay. However, they can still aim to improve their placement within the Unreal rank and prove their dominance.

Fortnite Ranked will be supported in Battle Royale’s Solo, Duos, and Squads modes, as well as Zero Build’s Duos mode, once the V24.40 update arrives. Battle Royale and Zero Build will have separate ranks. New players, need to outlast 500 opponents before participating in Ranked matches. Completing in-game seasonal cosmetic awards through Ranked Urgent Quests is also a great way to get involved.
The final cosmetic reward for Ranked Season Zero will be the Burn Bright Emote, which showcases your current rank to other players. With the arrival of Ranked, Arena mode will be discontinued. Your rank in the upcoming Battle Royale Season will also affect your eligibility for Epic-hosted tournaments.
Fortnite’s V24.40 update will bring some balancing changes, such as Material caps being decreased from 999 to 500, harvesting rates being slightly increased, and a new penalty for being eliminated that will cause players to drop 50 of each material. It seems that Fortnite players are in for a treat with the arrival of Ranked Play. Will you rise through the ranks?
