The highly anticipated remake of Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 is set to launch in just a matter of weeks, but if you’re feeling impatient, there’s good news. You can now take a peek at the game ahead of its official release through the newly released “Chainsaw Demo.” This demo takes place during the beginning village part of the game and is available on a variety of platforms, including PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC (via Steam). You can play the demo as much as you want, and there’s no time restriction, allowing you to explore and play the game at your own pace. (I’m sure I’ll need all the time I can get to outsmart the chainsaw-wielding villain!)
The remake of Resident Evil 4 is a massive overhaul of the 2005 horror classic. It follows in the footsteps of Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, with vastly improved graphics and updated gameplay. Judging from Capcom’s trailer in February, it’s clear that the game will feature plenty of iconic places and characters from the original. Personally, I can hardly contain my excitement to try out the Chainsaw Demo for myself.
The official release date for Resident Evil 4 is set for March 24th, and it will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC. Looking ahead, you can also expect DLC that will include a “Mercenaries” challenge mode, as well as a VR mode for PSVR 2. And for those who were unhappy with the rain effects shown in some of the game’s prerelease footage, there’s good news. A day one patch will address these concerns by making adjustments to how rain looks.
